• Photovoltaic (Solar) Generator Connection Form

    Jan 17
Photovoltaic (Solar) Generator Connection Forms can be obtained from the individual Distributors website.

Solar (or photovoltaic) energy is energy received by the earth from the sun and converted into electricity using technology such as photovoltaic (PV) panels on rooftops.  Solar is viewed as a clean, low cost renewable energy source.

All embedded generator applicants must submit a Photovoltaic (Solar) Generator Connection Form and enter into a connection agreement with the Distributor before the generator will be allowed to connect to the relevant Distributors Network.  Concentrations of solar PV systems connected to the low voltage network can lead to power quality issues such as overvoltage and voltage unbalance.  The number of solar photovoltaic systems has increased at a high rate, with a trend toward larger capacity installations.

Distributors generally will require an applicant to complete a Pre-Approval of Small Inverter Connection Form before the system is installed or upgraded to ensure there is no power quality issues to the Distributors network, as part of the grid may not support the connection of solar.  The Pre-Approval Forms can be obtained from each Distributors website.

Contact an electricity retailer to discuss pricing (tariff) options. It is important to note there may be costs associated if a bi-directional meter exchange is required. Please request this information from your electricity retailer.
